Real Madrid wins against Sevilla 3-2 at extra-time after Sergio Ramos had scored late equaliser

Neither Cristiano Ronaldo or Gareth Bale feature as Zidane's side have Ramos to thank yet again for saving them, DANI CARVAJAL netted a last-gasp extra-time winner as Real Madrid broke Sevilla’s hearts in the European Super Cup.Real went ahead through a wonder-goal from Marco Asensio but the Europa League winners hit back through Franco Vazquez and a late penalty from Yevhen Konoplyanka.

But Sergio Ramos netted in the fourth minute of added time to force an extra thirty minutes and Carvajal was the hero as he stabbed home a late winner to wild celebrations.

There was no Cristiano Ronaldo for Madrid who is out for another couple of weeks with a knee injury, whilst Karim Benzema started on the bench.

Sevilla had won all six of their pre-season games and are scoring goals for fun, but were almost immediately on the back foot.
And it was debutant Asensio who opened the scoring, netting his first goal for Real after two seasons away on loan.

The midfielder cut inside from 25 yards out and unleashed an unstoppable strike into the top left corner, with keeper Sergio Rico completely beaten.
It was no more than Real deserved for an energetic start, with fringe players out to impress and Alvaro Morata looking particularly dangerous through the middle.

Sevilla responded well through Daniel Carrico, who came close, before the Europa League champions got the equaliser on the stroke of half time.
Vitolo chested it down in the box following good work on the wing, allowing Vazquez the chance to thrash a left-footed volley into the bottom corner.

The underdogs began the second half on the front foot and dominated possession, with Zidane’s young side looking to hit Sevilla on the break.
Benzema was introduced on the hour mark and was straight into the action, his surging run and shot blocked by a sea of determined red shirts.

But it was Sevilla who got the break, when Sergio Ramos dived in and gave away a soft penalty – leaving Konoplyanka with the chance to score from the spot.
The Ukrainian made no mistake, calmly sending Casilla the wrong way and giving Sevilla the lead.

And despite a late onslaught, in which Benzema was again guilty of missing a decent chance, it looked as if The Red and Whites were going to hold on for a famous victory.
But has so often been the case over the years, Ramos came to Madrid’s rescue.

A walking red card he may often be, but when he’s allowed a header in the box he usually makes no mistake – and so was the case here, as he converted Lucas’s cross with the last attack of the game.
Sevilla looked shell-shocked and just two minutes into extra time their task got harder, as the already booked Timothee Kolodziejczak came in late and was dismissed by referee Milorad Mazic.

Ramos had another goal chalked off for a foul as Real piled on the pressure, but Sevilla looked to have held on for the lottery of penalties.

But they crumbled once again in the very last minute, when Carvajal was sent through and poked the ball into the top corner to spark wild celebrations.
